Serialnumbers in WM

Hello gurus,

We are using WM and HUM to handel the need for serialnumbers, but this makes the work quite difficult and not really streamlined.

The customer really dont need HUM, but they need to see which bin contains which serialnumber, and to be able to pick a defined serialnumber. The only way we have found until now is HUM, but we are not satisfied and the question is if someone knows any userexits or Badi's that can solve our serialnumber problems without using HUM?

in advance thanks

Ivar

    Hi Ivar,

Did you try with batch management?

You can use batch with characteristics

    Hello Ivar,

Serial number in Warehouse management works only with Handling unit. so no other option if you want to use serial number in WM.

the otherway is to use the Batch master as Fernando has mentioned, but here the limitation is you can received more than one qty for one batch.

    Regards

We solved the problem by developing our own serielanumber solution basicly a new table with information about serialnumbers, that are filled and editet during the creation of TO's

Basicly it holds the seriealnr, material, batch, plant, sloc, storagetype, storage area, bin. And some more information like TO nr last used date and time, some fields for helping us with external systems if TO is to be confirmed from these.

It works with deliveries, if a delivery has specified serialnumber when TO is created, ordinary search strategies like FIFO is skipped and our table used to find the correct bin. If not standard is used, then when TO is confirmed the delivery is updated with serialnumbers so we dont have to fill that when doing GI. A lot of checks was needed and there are som temp tabels involved 😊 But now it works.
