activate segment field in profit center master data

Hi all,

we are on ECC6, when I try to change profit center master data segment field is greyed out, how to activate this field?

Make Settings for Segment and Segment Derivation

Use

This is where you make settings if you want to derive the segment before activating New General Ledger Accounting and would like to edit the segment in the master data of the profit centers.

Requirements

To derive the segment, you need to have made the following settings:

You have defined at least one segment.

You have defined the segment as ready for input.

You have defined profit centers and assigned segments to them.

we are doing implementation.

Pl try as susggested by Sridhar and let me know whether it works or not. In my opinon when u are migrating from old version to new version u need to swtich this. Otherwise there is no need. I did a new implimenation and I never went to this side. The problem should be some where else. Pl try and if it works it is fine other wise we shall look for something else. Appreciate ur feed back on this which will be very valuable.

I know this will not work from my exp.So ur problem is u are not able make changes to the SEMENT field in Change mode to the master data of profit center.

Symptom

In the standard system, you cannot change the segment assignment in the profit center master record using Transaction KE52.

Reason and Prerequisites

This is the desired system response. If transaction data is already there, you should not be able to change the segment in the profit center master record so easily or to simply create a new analysis period with another segment. Therefore, the change option was usually switched off.

If you still have no transaction data or have deleted the transaction data in the test system, you can activate the change option in the view V_FAGL_SEGM_PRCT using Transaction SM30. Caution: This causes a time-consuming check to run.
