is it possible to lock the description of a material while in PR or PO.where can i lock the description

Yes, its possible,

Just go to SPRO,

MM-Purchasing--Purchase Order --Define screen layout at doc.level

MM-Purchasing--Purchase Requisition --Define screen layout at doc.level

Select the field selection and Tick the "Material description" as display only.

hi i hope my question is not clear

my req is that when i change the description in PR for a material then with ref to PR ill create PO but system shows the original description but i want sys to show the changed one. how can i make the changes

Dear Mani,

When you create PR with a material then you change the desc, that if you create a PO refer to the PR, it will get the desc exactly from the PR (the changed one), but you have to make sure that the material desciption field is also set as optional.

so you mean that if i fix optional then what ever short text maintained in PR will get effected in PO.am i right?
