Regards
Ram
Hi raju,
Route determination is how you will deliver the material to your customer.
Requirements for Route Schedules
The route schedules are determined by the following conditions:
· Shipping point
Where are the goods coming from?
Ship-to party and unloading point
Where are the goods going to?
Shipping condition
How are the goods being shipped?
Transportation group
Which goods are shipped?
® For example, which type of goods?
Calendar week / year
When are the goods to be shipped?
If you do not explicitly enter the week and the year, the entry applies for each calendar week. If you enter a week and a year, the route schedule only applies for this week.
You can only use route schedules if you have maintained the working times and therefore at least one of the following times in minutes:
· Transportation planning time
· Pick/pack time
· Loading time
· Transit time
A route schedule can leave the warehouse exactly once in a week. If a route schedule runs several times, either on several days or several times a day, it must be copied to another route schedule.
Special schedules and public holiday weeks are possible.

Route Determination
· Route may consist of different stages and different transportation connection
points or legs.
· The material can be transported from source to destination by using different
modes of transports with different shipment types.
· Route can be determined for a line item in the sales order.
· Route can be re-determined at delivery document header level by taking “Weight
Group” into consideration.
· Each line item in the sales document will have its own route, each line item route
will be copied to delivery document header.
Configuration Settings:
1. Define Modes of Transport:
Ex.: Road, Train etc.
Menu Path: IMG / Sales and Distribution / Basic Functions / Routes / Define
Routes / Define Modes of Transports.
Here we create our own modes of transport and assign the shipping types
2. Define Shipping Types:
Menu Path: IMG / Sales and Distribution / Basic Functions / Routes / Define
Routes / Define Shipping Types
Here we assign modes of transport to the shipping types
3. Define Transportation Connection Points:
Menu Path: Menu Path: IMG / Sales and Distribution / Basic Functions / Routes /
Define Routes / Define Transportation Connection Points
· Transportation Connection Point can be a Airport, Border crossing or a
railway station.
· Transportation connection point is a source or a destination.
4. Define Routes and Stages:
Menu Path: Menu Path: IMG / Sales and Distribution / Basic Functions / Routes /
Define Routes / Define Routes and Stages
Choose an existing route, copy and create our own route SUZ001
Enter the data as shown
If you want to create a service agent, use T. Code: V-11
Specify Company Code and Account Group = 0005 – Forwarding Agent, enter
the relevant data as required.
Also enter rest of the information as required seen in the screen shot.
: It is a pre-requisite for transportation for this route.
Save it. Highlight our Route and click on “Route Stages”. Following screen will
appear. Go to “New Entries” and enter the data as shown.
Leg Indicator:
There are 5 types of legs:
· Preliminary Leg
· Main Leg
· Direct Leg
· Return Leg
· Subsequent Leg
: It is a pre-requisite for calculating shipment cost for this particular
stage by using SDFC00 pricing procedure.
Until now what we did was a pre-requisite for the route determination. Now let us do the
route determination.
Route Determination:
5. Define Transportation Zone:
Menu Path: Menu Path: IMG / Sales and Distribution / Basic Functions / Routes /
Route Determination / Define Transportation Zones
Transportation Zone represents Ship-to Party region or Vendor region. System
uses transportation zone as one of the factor to determine the route for a line item
in the sales order.
We go to the “new entries” and define transportation zone for country.
Then we go to the Customer Master Data in XD01 / XD02 and assign
Transportation Zone in the Address tab of the General Data Section.
6. Maintain Country and Transportation Zone for Shipping Point:
Menu Path: Menu Path: IMG / Sales and Distribution / Basic Functions / Routes /
Route Determination / Maintain Country and Transportation Zone for Shipping Point
7. Define Transportation Group: We can define Transportation Group if it is not
available according to our requirements
8. Define Weight Group: We can define Weight group if is not available according
to our requirements
9. Maintain Route Determination:
Menu Path: Menu Path: IMG / Sales and Distribution / Basic Functions / Routes /
Route Determination / Maintain Route Determination
Route Determination is done for the line item by taking 4 factors in to considerations
1. Country of Departure Zone
2. Country of Destination Zone
3. Shipping Conditions (From Sales Document Header)
4. Transportation group (From Material Master)
Go to “new entries’ and enter the data as shown
Select the route and the double click on the “Route Determination Without Weight
Group”. Go to “new entries” and enter the following data
Here SC – Shipping Conditions (01 - Standard)
TGroup – Transportation group (0004 – on Train)
Proposed Route – SUZ001 (Our Route)
Save it and create order in VA01, Go to Shipping Tab in the item level data and Check
for the entry of the route determination as shown below.

Hi
Refer below
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/dd/5607da545a11d1a7020000e829fd11/content.htm
Route can be determined in sales order with the help of 5 parameters: depart country, shipping conditions in customer master record, transportation group in material master, destination country, and weight group.
Weight group plays a vital role. The purpose of route detrmination is like in scenario's where company will ship goods to the customer in various ways not only that it has optional of having n number of routes select the best one & based on his customer priority (time & money.) for sending samples company will go for air, for delivering ordered goods it can go for different mode of transportation & routes.
Configuration part:
SPRO > LE - Shipping - Basic shipping functions Routes
Define Routes:
Define mode of transportation
Define shipping types.
Asssign shipping types to mode of transportation.
Define Routes and Stages
Maintain Stages For All Routes
Route Determination:
Define Transportation Zones
Maintain Country And Transportation Zone For Shipping Point
Define Transportation Groups
Define Weight Groups
Maintain Route Determination in the combination of
a) Departure country/Departure Zone - maintained in shipping point configuration
b) Shipping condition from the sales order
c) Transportation planning group mantained in General/Plant view of material master.
d) Destination country/Transportation zone maintained in General view -Address of Customer master of Ship to Party

hi
Distance and other geographical considerations play an important role when calculating shipment costs.
You can define shipment cost conditions as dependent upon these considerations. For example, when defining a condition table in Customizing, you can select fields such as departure zone, destination region, destination postal code, and so on.
You define the condition tables for shipment costing in SD Customizing: Logistics Execution ® Transportation ® Shipment Costs ® Pricing ® Pricing Control ® Define price dependencies (condition tables).
For further information on the role of the condition table in pricing, see Condition Tables.
Features
You have the following options for representing geographical considerations in the system as part of pricing:
Distances
The distance can be used as a scale basis and calculation rule during the calculation of shipment costs. The distance can be stored in the shipment header or the shipment stage header. The distance can be entered in the following ways:
- Manually
You can enter the distance manually in the shipment document
- Routes and route stages
You can maintain the distance in route definition in Customizing for both routes and route stages. When the corresponding route is used, this value is copied to the shipment document as a system proposal.
- Customer enhancement for distance determination
If you want to determine distances automatically, you can activate a customer enhancement (enhancement ‘V56DISTZ’), for user-defined distance determination.
Locations and zones
You have the following options for the origin of locations and zones that can be used to influence shipment costing. They are categorized into departure and destination-related data:
- Address data
Data such as the country, region, postal code or transportation zone that can be used as fields to define the condition tables, can be taken from the shipment address data.
- Determination of tariff zones
You can set the automatic determination of tariff zones in Customizing. A tariff zone is the combination of a postal code area for a country. The tariff zone is defined in terms of the
· Transportation planning point
· Service agents
· Shipping type
· Country
. For example, a postal code area has been assigned to a predefined tariff zone for a combination of transportation planning point, service agent, etc. If the system does not find a valid tariff zone for these criteria, it carries out determination again with an "empty" shipping type.
With the corresponding system settings, the tariff zone is determined automatically when it creates a shipment cost item. That is, when it creates a shipment cost document or when another item is created manually.
Prerequisites
If you want the system to determine distances from the route or route stage, you must maintain the distances in Customizing for route definition. You make these settings in Customizing: Sales and Distribution ® Basic Functions ® Routes ® Define Routes ® Define routes and stages.
If you want to use tariff zones for shipment costing, you must define them in Customizing and select them there for automatic determination. You make these settings in Customizing: Logistics Execution ® Transportation ® Shipment Costs ® Basic Shipping Functions ® Define and assign tariff zones.
