How to retain a space in a field in idoc

Former Member

Hi all,

The scenario is idoc to idoc.

In one of the fields in target idoc i have to map a space depending on the source field. As we know, XI removes any spaces in the field and creates an empty element in XML for the field. Is there anyway to map that field with a space without XI creating an empty element for the field?

Any solution or workaround will be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Sudheer.

Sudheer,

You will have the field from the source or you won't have at all!!

Did u tried with Map with Default option ... double click give space and map to the target.

I hope it solves ur issue, If misuderstood ur reqmt, please correct me.!!

Hi,

I am sorry. I think u got it wrong. The problem is as a space is being mapped to one of the fields in idoc XI trims the space and creates an empty XML element for the field on the target side because of which that field will not be generated in target idoc. I want to know if there is anyway to tell XI to preserve that space and not to create an empty element for the field.

Hope i am clear.

Hi,

did you try out using space in the constant built in function and map it. ?

Also you can try out with user defined function to generate the space for the field.

Hope it helps

Go to XML and view-source option. Then i think you can see the space.
