Hello!

I would like to monitor the satelite systems from SOLMAN (Tcode RZ20) and have the following question.

In one Solution Manager I have the following structure:

SAP CCMS Monitor Templates --> Database --> MaxDB

In my Solution Manager I have only SAP CCMS Monitor Templates --> Database

How can the monitor "MaxDB" can be activated?

Thank you very much!

regards

Hello Thom,

To be able to monitor the database on your Solution Manager system:

-> Please check if the database client software installed on the

application server. See notes:

822239 FAQ: MaxDB Interfaces

649814 Updating MaxDB/ liveCache client software

-> What is the version of the database? What is the SAP Basis SP on

your Solution Manager system & what is the SAP kernel version

your Solution Manager system?

-> If the system is NOT running with MAXDB, you need MAXDB database-dependent part of the SAP kernel, which is known as the DBSL installed on the application server.

SAP notes :

325402 dbadaslib/dbsdbslib: How do I apply a patch?

822239 FAQ: MaxDB Interfaces

After that the application server need to be restarted.

-> See in the SAP note 588515 the section 3.

Call transaction DB59, Select "Integrate database" & create the database

connection, for example, TEST < You could name it MAXDB_<SID> to have

unique connection name>. And follow the further instructions.

Please run the 'Connection test' after that & review the log.

After the database connection was created in /ndb59 you could double click

on the created connection TEST .

Or /ndb59 -> select connection -> click database assistant bottom =>

it brings you to the database assistant (DB50/DB50N).

And in the database assistant you could click on Alert Monitor and activate

the database MTE tree.

You could run the /ndb50n transaction & specify the created in the /ndb59 database connection TEST and execute to monitor the MAXDB database on your system.

-> Please review the SAP note:

431508 SAP WebAS - using DB13C or DB13 for SAP DB systems

Hello Natalia,

thank you very much for your response.

I can execute the tcodes DB50/DB50N without any problems.

My current problem is that I miss the SAP DB monitor:

Tcode RZ20 --> SAP CCMS Monitor Templates (Database) --> SAP DB

Do you know how to activate them?

Thank you very much

regards

Thom

Hello Thom,

-> What is the version of the database? What is the SAP Basis SP on your Solution Manager system?

-> Please review the recommended SAP note 588515 < It has reference to (RZ20 - SAP note 545030) where the Database Alert Monitoring (RZ20) provides the option to set up a central alert monitoring to monitor several database instances. >.

Please also review the SAP note:: 990602 FAQ: CCMS for MaxDB/SAP liveCache technology

Hello Natalia,

Thank you very much for your response.

I am on SAPDB 7.6, the SAP Basis SP of Solution Manager is 12.

I already have activated SAPDB MTE in Solution Manager.

The reason was the other alerts e.g. Background Processing that should be completed.

The problem now is to do the same for the satelite systems e.g. (SAP SRM 5.0, with SAP Web AS 7.00, SAP DB 7.6)

Thank you ver much!

regards

Thom

Hello Natalia,

Unfortunately my problem is not solved.

I could only activate the SAP DB MTE for the SAP Solution Manager.

I have to do the same step for the satelite systems.

Thank you!

Hello Thom,

-> Could you give more details of your problem.

-> What are the database vewrsions? What are the database servers?

Did you create the connections for the data base instances?

Did you run the Connection tests in /ndb59 without problems?

Or what problems did you get?

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Hi Thom,

when you integrate a remote database in transaction DB59 and activate the Alert Monitoring there (mark the checkbox on the integration screen), the Alert Monitor tree should be created automatically. If you start then the Assistant from DB59, you will also have an Alert Monitor entry in the tree of DB50.

If this is not the case on your system, you should open a message, that SAP support can logon to your system to check what's going wrong.

Best regards,

Melanie

Hello Thom,

If you want to see monitoring items from the satellite systems within transaction RZ20 of the Solution Manager system you have to create a monitor first. Default SAP only delivers monitors for the current system. So in the monitor "SAP CCMS Monitor Templates" you will only find data for the Solution Manager system.

Create a monitor is possible with the following steps:

1. Start RZ20

2. Extras -> Activate Maintenance function

3. Create Monitor Set

4. Create Monitor

5. Select Items for the monitor or create rule based monitor.

With regards,

Michel Bal.
