Newbie

Hi, I am trying to find out how to get into SAP. I have been a Remedy Developer for many years and I am trying a new career path. I have worked with Change Management, Asset Management, Incident Management, Service Management and I understand process flow between these modules. I am totally new to SAP. Is SAP a tough market? meaning very competitive. With Remedy, it was a unique niche in the market. How is SAP? and is there a class I can take to learn more. Is there any advise to get started. I wish I could download software to build an SAP environment. Which modules of SAP are most lucrative if I had certification/experience?
