    Hey

    >>1.Whether CCMS config is mandatory to use alerts ?I havefound in some places tht it is not required then where will be alert available if i trigger

No,its not mandatory, see the difference between CCMS and Alerts via ALRTCATDEF is that CCMS is used to monitor the entire system, suppose the XI server itself is down then in that case CCMS will send the alerts,ALRTCATDEF won't be able to trigger the alert coz the server itself is down so no question of ALRTCATDEF triggering the alert.

so basically to monitor the systems(landscape) use CCMS but to monitor the execution of scenarios use ALRTCATDEF.

    thanx
