Hi experts
Can some body please clarify, whether the Chart of Accounts is part of enterprise structure or it can be called as Master data.If possible ,Please provide some link in SAP where I can cross check it
Thanks in advance.
Surendra
Hello
Chart of accounts is not a master data but contains elements of master data, ie the list of GL accounts.
The additions to chart of accounts can be made at a company code level or at a chart of accounts level.(Centrally)

No, Chart of Accounts is not the part of Enterprise Structure, and so it is not placed in Enterprise Structure path in IMG.

Hi Sudendera Kumar
Did you see Chart of account in Enterprise Structure, Simple it is not a part of Enterprise structure. At the same time does it contain the transaction data, then it is not master data ( Before that - wht is a master data ? think of it ). it is a framework which provides for recording of values to ensure proper recording of accounting data.
Hence it is nor a part of Enterprise Structure not Master Data.

Hi
CoA is not part of enterprise struture. CoA can be defined independent of comapny code. Chart of accounts caontains two parts 1 Chart of accounts area 2 company code area. U can use the same chart of accounts for multiple company code. Chart of accounts area is same across the company code. But company code area related settings may difffer from company code to company code like currency, field status group, tax settings. U create Chart of accounts and company code separately and make an assignment. For example I have a group of companies across the globe. They can use the same chart of accounts. However the company in India may book it in INR and company in US may book it USD. Again some GL accounts are used in US company and some GL accounts are not used. So these related settings u make it Company code area. I hope this explanation should be clear to u. In case u have any doubt pl free to raise the same.

Actually a chart of account belongs to a set of company codes. and you assign a chart of account to a company code in OBY6
thanks
