Copy the profit center hierachy

Hi

In our year end task lists ,

1. one of the task mentioned as copy the current hierachy into new year so preserve the current year structure.

2.Copy profit center hierachy in new year .

My question is why this is to be done ? Or is it common practice to copy hierachy in year end task ?

I am not aware of the functionality you seek however

The Standard Hierarchy's (Profit Center and Cost Centers) is just a grouping structure to which the master data profit and cost centers are assigned. There has to be a standard hierarchy because as mentioned all masters must be assigned to a node on the hiererachy. There is no date/time restriction on this.

This does not stop you from creating alternative groups year (call it year one etc) and you can assign the masters to this alternate hierarchies as well.
