Hi,
Can Any one please say how do we determine that the Character should
be a Line Item Dimension. As I know that if the number of records of the
characteristic get passed 20% of the size of the Fact Table then it sud be
treated as Line Item. But How to Determine that ?
Ashish
hi
A cube can hav more than 1 line item dimension. we make a line item dimension wen 1 characteristic has assigned to 1 dim as well as the cordinality of the dim is more than 20% of the fact table.
For example: While we r extracting data from SD. For each transaction sales document should b there. and is assigned to 1 dimension. And the cordinality of the dim is equal to fact table.

Ashish,
Go to Se11 and copy your cube tech name there and see no of entries in that cube based on each dimension and check out the total number of records based on that data target. So that you can easily find out the cardinality of the cube and you can decide whether it has to be a line item dimension or Dimension.
Hope it helps...

Hi Ashish.
when there are less then or equal to 14 characteristics we can create line item dimensions for all the characteristics and if there are more than 14 characteristics then we have to decide according to the instances of charectrictics and related characteristics.

Hi Ashish
Copy your Infocube name and go to SE16: techname do a F4 and you will see all your dimensions and also the fact table. select each one of the dim and check with the entries in fact table. do math and see is its more than 20% of fact table if so, flag it as a line item dim.
Hope it helps

You must decide on the basis of cardinality. Consider, line item dimension for chars that have high cardinality.
