Hi all!!!
I have this requerimient;
I need to connect the BW with other database like access or mysql; is necessary to do this with XI; or can be done with other type of connection??? like dbconnect?
Thanks for the answers
Greetings,
Monica
With UD connect / Db cinenct, you need XI. It works with ODBC between the BW and the non-BW data base.

Hi Monica,
It is not always required the intervention of XI, while making a connection between BW and other DB's. It also depends on the type of data that you want to Push or Pull.
I agree XI will help in transferring any format from or into BW, however implementing XI is again a costly affair.
Nevertheless, i can think of 3 solutions
1. to use INFO spoke in BW:
Create Table in BW system to store the reqd data
Create infospoke with DB table to put data in this table
Then use Reporting agent to schedule this load.
This data from BW can be extracted via an interface ETL tool like TIBCO, informatica
You can also generate a file download form INFospoke and then load to the target system as a flat file/asci/csv. FTP can also be used
2. Create a proper report on BW side and then use this report to load data into the target system, same as flat file/csv/ASCI. FTP can also be used
You can also use Bex Information broadcaster, incase you have BW version 3.5 or higher, this will enable to automatically run the report and then send it to any email address as attachment, but has limitation of data volume you can email.
3. There is also a possibility to connect these systems via standard adapter, for example DBconnect on BW side can be used for sending data into MSSQL, but then it would be a push mechanism (requires ABAP routine which will send static data) from BW to send data to MSSQL.
this possibility has to be explored, less sure of this, however pulling data into BW is not an issue.
I might be wrong but I have tested the first one and it works.

Vij

Hello Monica,
I recommend you to use UD connect. Here is some information regarding UD connect.
Transferring Data with UD Connect
Purpose
UD Connect (Universal Data Connect) uses the Application Server J2EE connectivity to enable the reporting and analysis of both SAP and non-SAP data. Using UD Connect, you can access just about all relational and multi-dimensional data sources. UD Connect transfers the data as flat data. Multi-dimensional data is converted to a flat format when UD Connect is used.
