OABC error AC 646 Takeover of values from deprec. area 01 is not possible

Hi I want to make a change on OABC (OAYD) and have this error. (change Ident for an area)

Area 61 is not a real depreciation area but a calculation between 2 depreciation area's. Normal area 61 should not be in these transaction. I think that the area was created as a normal area and then changed. But that the value is not removed from T093A. This area is working normal in our system and this is running in the production system since years.

How can I solve this (whithout an ABAP or debuger direct in the table)

Thanks,

Paul

NL 61: Takeover of values from deprec. area 01 is not possible.

Message no. AC 646

Diagnosis

In chart of depreciation NL, depreciation area 61 is supposed to take over its values from depreciation area 01. However, this value takeover is not possible, since the management of acquisition and production costs is defined differently in depreciation area 01 than in 61.

Procedure

Check the definitions of depreciation areas 01 and 61 in chart of depreciation NL.

Workaround:

I found this old post and found a workaround for this issue.

Step1: You can first go to OADB and make sure that the Value Maintenance Rules in both Depreciation areas are identical. Match the source in Target.

Step2: Then make the change OABC. Error shall not appear anymore.

Step3: Revert the changes made in Step1 to have the Value Maintenance Rules that you want for the new depreciation area.
