Calculate Multiple Activity Rates in One Cost Center

Former Member

Hi Everyone,

We currently have many cost centers allocating expenses (through assessment KSUB) into a few cost centers that calculate activity prices. Furthermore, the cost centers that calculate the rates have a few rates to calculate. So, can anyone tell me how to have the receiving cost center that would calculate 3 separate activity prices based upon secondary cost elements? I understand that when posting primary plan expenses in KP06, you can specify the activity type and cost element combination so that a rate can be calculated based on specific cost elements, but how is that performed on secondary cost elements allocated into a cost center?

Thanks,

Pete

I am afraid, if you have option to peform assessment wherein the assessed cost directly lands in the receiveing cost center's specific activities.

However, you can create splitting structure, that can build relation ship of cost element to activity types. Before calculating activity prices, run splitting.

Is there a way to correlate a secondary cost element with an activity type? I believe that is what the first part of your response relates to.

We do not use splitting nor do I know what/how that would work. If the first part of my response is not feasible, would this solve my problem and if so, is there any useful documentation that would assist me with this?

Splitting is the only possible way, I reckon.

For executing splitting, an activity which is performed before price calculation, t-code KSS4 is used.

So by way of this link, you're stating that splitting will be the only way around this, right?

Use OKES for defining splitting structure and OKEW for assinging those splitting structure to cost centers.

I looked into the documentation for plan splitting and it doesn't seem that would work. Any other suggestions on how to have SAP calculate multiple activity rates within 1 cost center based upon secondary cost element dollars within it? I'm surprised that no one else has had this issue. I guess if there is no other possibility, a custom ABAP report for calculation would need to be created then, but please let me know what you think as well.

Thanks!

Hi,

Do you have a solution to this. I am facing the same problem.

Unfortunately not. I believe we'll need to create a custom program to calculate this based off of account sets.

The budgets will be planned on the cost centers using KP06. You dont need any activty here. After doing all the budgets, you will do your assesments making all the postings. Then you will plan you activites on cost centers using KP26. This is planning of activity quantities not the dollar value. So now you have the budget and the activity quantities in the cost cenetrs. You will run the activity price calculation using KSPI in which each costcenter with the activity will divde the budget with quantities and will caluculate the rate per unit. This will be you activity prices. The role of secondary cost element here is it is associtate with activity and this is the link for cost center and activity. So the activity price will assosicated with secondary cost element. When you make any posting with these activites the posintgs will be booked against these activities.

Hi PV,

Almost got the picture. Its actually the receiving cost center that would calc the rates but it only receives secondary cost elements. So, the cost center with final destination of the expenses through allocations would then be the one needing to calculate multiple rates based upon the expenses allocated in.

Example:

CC 1000 & 1001 allocate all expenses into CC 1200 through secondary cost elements using KSUB. CC 1200 needs to calc 3 separate rates based upon the expenses received into it.

Help out?
