Will the use of hyphens in material number affect use in Variant Configuration?

Hi,

I am currently part of a project in work looking to alter the part numbers used in SAP to a standard part number in the following format: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

Will the use of the hyphens '-' affect the way the variant configuration code works?

I dont think hyphen's in material number cause any issue , but hyphen's in characteristic name's and values make effect in VC.

At my company, we create some SAP material numbers with a hyphen and we've not run into issues on the variant configuration side. I think you will be okay.
