New in installing MDM 5.5 - How to proceed??

Hello all,

I have been assigned the task to perform an installation of SAP MDM 5.5 on a VM Ware Linux server. Before starting the planning , I am reading the MDM documentation adn I have couple of questions:

1. First of all , I do not need SAP Netweaver 2004 underneath the MDM Server , right?

2. According to MDM Master Guide:MDM 5.5 does not support VMWare ?? Any personal experience from you?

3. I am checking in the Installation Guide of MDM and no definite file system is proposed for the installation? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Loukas

Hi Loukas,

>>>1. First of all , I do not need SAP Netweaver 2004 underneath the MDM Server , right?

no, you don't need SAP Netweaver 2004 (ABAP nor java WAS stacks)

MDM is a separate application - not bases on SAP web application server

Thanks Michal.

What about my other questions? In Netweaver InstGuides a file systems is provided? But I haven't see anything similar in MDM instguid.

Thanks again,

Loukas

Hi,

there are two section in installation guide:

one for unix based systems - linux

one for windows based systems

it this what you ask for?

Exactly ,

I have seen the 2 parts but it refers to env variables. Anyway I will try to browse a bit more on SAP Service Market place and hopefully get the answer.

Thx,

Loukas

https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000659894&_OBJECT=01100035870000412187...

Besides:

1. You do not need SAP Netweaver 2004 underneath the MDM Server

2. I think it does not support VMWare , but no personal experience

3. See above link.
