Textile size wise master data mapping

Dear All,

We face the following issue,

Our client manufacture leather jackets in various sizes like 36,38,40....etc based on country and customer norms. So when customer sent them order, they mention Black jacket(Finished good name) quantity 9 pieces (36-3, 38-4, 40-2). Currently they maintain it through excel.

Now when coming to sap,we suggested them to create FG for all sizes for same product. For example if 5 sizes then Black jacket 36, Black jacket 38 etc..with each holding their own BOM (obviously size is the only attribute that varies). But they're not willing to go with this idea as they seem it will result in huge amount of Master data as sizes will be more for each FG and it may result in thousands of FG. So currently am planning to go with alternative BOM (Only raw material leather sheet size varies) and production versions for all sizes.

But only in sales order we'll come to know what size we need to produce and only for those sizes MRP should run otherwise there will be inconsistencies. In default MRP run will consider only 1st production version i suppose, correct me if am wrong..

So how to achieve it??

Whether this mapping would be flexible and apt?

Because of this our master data finalization with customer is delaying.

Kindly provide your suggestions..

Your requirement can be met using SAP FMS functionality- (Fashion Management Solution) wherein you have to create BOM for generic materials (say leather jacket) & based on different sizes articles(J36/J38/J40..) BOM will get created.

    Please check below link:

If this is the case, then you can check your requirement to map through Variant Configuration (VC) solution in SAP. You need to create charecterstics based on sizes & use the concept of variant material/ Super BOM/Routing etc.

      Please explore Variant Configuration.
