How to Manually Remove Add-on in Business One 9.0?

(I posted this question some time ago, but I had to create a new login due to the change to the new Community platform, and since I don't have any answers yet on the original question, I want to try again. Moderators: you could delete the old version of this question, since I can't log in the old way and do it myself.)

I have an add-on that has been updated, but on a certain workstation, the previous version's add-on uninstaller failed. Now the workstation can't use the add-on at all: it won't try to install the new version because every time you log in, it tries and fails to uninstall the old one.

I have tried these things so far:

  • I renamed the add-on's directory in the Business One program folder so B1 won't find the add-on.

  • I deleted its entry in AddonsLocalRegistration.sbo

  • I deleted its entry in b1-current-user.xml

.

I have not found the add-on mentioned anywhere else, but something is still telling the B1 client app that the add-on needs to be removed. If I could get the client to stop trying to uninstall the old version, I'm sure it would install the new one successfully and all would be well.

Besides completely erasing the client on a workstation and starting over from scratch, is there anything less drastic I can do to make B1 forget about the old add-on and stop trying to perform an uninstall that's never going to work?

You're right Johan, it was still in release process after we updated it today. It's "Released for Customer" now again. We're trying to minimize any downtimes of SAP notes.

Thank you all. I will try this stuff when the problem recurs. On this particular machine, after uninstall failed over and over each day for a few weeks, one day it finally succeeded and the problem just went away. But this situation happens pretty often when add-ons are updated, so I'm sure I'll have occasion to try out the answers you've provided. Thanks!

Hi,

Please check add - on manager and add - on administration options through Modules - Administration.

Also SARI is he table where SAP registers the add - on.

Check that too. But I doubt you can play with SAP table. In that case you will loose the support. But at least you will be able to find out something.

Else raise a ticket for support.

Hi,

Usually delete all the addons folder and clear the content in file AddonsLocalRegistration.sbo will remove the addons from client's PC. That works perfectly every time for me. For the AddonsLocalRegistration.sbo file, I only keep below text in the file. I never remove it partially.
