Strange error with Release Strategy

Hi,

I have configured Class FRG_EKKO in CL02 to look at 4 Characteristics: 1) Amount 2) Document Type 3) Material Group and 4) Plant.

When I create PO with an Item that belongs to F2000 Material group, it gets Release strategy Z5 correctly.

However, when I add another item that belongs to F3000 Material group, but same plant, it takes out Release Strategy. When I check, it says 'Purchase document not subject to relase strategy'.

Where should I check now and make sure it retains Release Strategy ?

Hi Niranjan,

Select the Multiple value check box for material group characteristic.Enter the material group F3000 under value tab page or you can enter the material group while defining the release strategy Z5 ( Classification button).Ultimately your strategy Z5 consists both the material group F2000 and F3000.

Hi,

This is how I fixed. I removed 'Material group' selection from CL20N tcode as this strategy should work for selected plants. So, Plant is more important than Material group.

We have another Strategy Z9, which is used for different material groups and different plants in 1 PO. Here there is no Material group OR PLant selection at all.

Also, I referred the Note 365604 and that also helped in understanding how it works.

Hi Charlie,

1) I checked OMGSCK and everything is green.

2) Material group (MATKL) and Plant (WERKS) are already available in CEKKO structure. So, if I try to add again, it is giving error saying it exists twice.

Do you want me to look anywhere else ? I believe Plant and Material group are common fields that most companies would use for Release Strategy, whether they are at header or item level.

Hi Niranjan

For PR u can apply release strategy at item level and header level

But for Po only at Header level

If ur trying strategy for PO with material group as a charactaristic

Whenever Material group is diff. at item level it will remove strategy

So it is advisable to go for header level strategy

Generally plant and material group is used at requisition level not po level

but whatever..you have decided to go with plant only is much better.

Generally PO release strategy is more at amount level authorization where you need purchase group, total value, document type etc

and at req level where you have diff release strategy based on the plant and material..the reason raw materia is handel by one planner, engi mateiral handled by diff planner like wise you will have diff planner based on the material attribute that reason u need material group and plant at req

anyway you can't so anything if your client wants it at PO level

First of all check your release strategies in tcode OMGSCK, here you should see all the lights are green or yellow no red

now the PO release is always at ehader level and the material group you have used is item level that's first concern i have now

you can use plant and material group for PO but then did you enter those two filed in the communication structure CEKKOZZ of CEKKO.

if you have enter the item level field in this structure then only your release will work.

HI Senthil,

1) I have selected 'Multiple Values' radio button for Material Group Characteristic.

2) In 'Values' tab, I have entered F1000, F2000, F3000, F4000, F5000 material groups.

3) While selecting in CL20N, I have clicked check box F2000, F3000 for Z5 Strategy.

Nevertheless, it is not selecting Z5 Strategy.
