Dear All,

what is diff between billing and invoice?

From the help for cash order, it says that the invoice will print immediately after order created, the billing will be done seperately by transaction after delivery. Can anyone explain more detail.

regards

Gang

dear Gang,

it may bit confuse but billing and invoice both are one but sounds different,

in the system we are calling it as billing and the printed document will be called as invoice.

in cash sales it is saying that invoice will print immediately ( means you will get the printed document immediately ) and billing will be done after the delivery in the system.

rewards if it helps

based on ur query.. Billing and Invoice are one and the same.. the difference is that in general business terminology Billing means the process of crediting the customer to the certain sum of money either by cash or credit, for the goods or services purchased by him... this process consists of many other documents like credit note, debit note, invoice, etc.

Invoice is the Printed format of the Bill ie, the sum of amount the customer is credited is made available in the printiable format....

dont get confused by the Billing and Invoice words.. in simple way invoice is one of the documents generated during the billing process.. Billing is a process which consists of various different documents which are generated depending on the business requirements...

Hi,

The difference between invoice and billing is:

Invoice: It is a physical document which is given to the customer against the goods sold to him.

Billing: This is a process which starts from the invoice creation and simultaneous posting of the receivables to appropriate accounts.

In cash sale process we issue the print out of the cash sale order as a invoice to the customer and later on we do the billing process in the SAP system (for the posting of receivables)

As far as I understand your question, you are referring to The Cash sales (document type BV) .

In this case,Billing document BV is created as the system processes the billing due list, but an invoice is not printed.

It means that the amount in the invoice is immediately posted to a cash account(financial postings are done).

And the actual document/fax/print copy the physical output is printed later.

Hope this helps understand the difference.

In one step the financial postings are done and another the actual output(such as printed invoice) is created.

Hi wang

In cash sales process , doc type is bv and the billing type is bv

When you create a cash sales document, automatically delivery will happen because u mention shipping conditons as immed delivery in bv doc type config

once you create the doc type, delivery happens automatically and you will do billing with the del doc no .System creates a cash sales invoice immediately using the output type rd02 assigned to the billing document and the cash sales account is updated

Thanks & Regards

Billing document is a generic term for all the billing documents like Proforma Invoice (F5), Invoice (F2) , Intercompany billing invoice (IV) etc.

Invoice is a document that is used to bill a customer.

Order related billing (F1)

Delivery related billing (F2).
