Hello All,

We are implementing ESS/MSS portal. We are using portal 7.0. Upgraded 4.6c to ECC 6.0. Deployed the mySAP ERP2005 Bussiness package using sdm.

I heard that Training and event management of 4.6c has been replaced with Learning Solution Manager.

Can any body tell me what all can we achieve using LSO after deploying the mySAP ERP2005 bussiness packages.

Please, brief out the standard LSO functionalities available from ECC 6.0 and what all can we do using portal 7.0

Thanks for all your inputs in advance.

Kind Regards,

Anil Kumar

Hi Anil

LSO ( Learning Solution ) is a SAP Add-on for Training and Events Management. It offers

1. LSO backened ( installed on ECC)

2. LSO FE ( Front end) ( installed on ECC)

3. Learning Portal ( Installed on EP as a Business Package)

4. Authoring Environment ( Installed on client desktop and connect with Portal Content Management on EP)

5. Content Player ( Online and Offline Course Playing on the web or user desktop)

The users can book, participate courses online and get the evaluation. Moreover they can send the feedback of course and instructors using appraisals. They can also download the test in the Content player and solve it offline.

In addition to that, new courses can be designed in Authoring Environment. Usually, this is done by Training administrator or a group of course authors in training department.

You can also send notifications to learners. These notifications can be sent as an email or print outs. You can replace the standard notification forms with your own SAP Script forms to add more features in the format.

Since you are using ECC 6.0 so you can use LSO 600.

ECC 5.0-> LSO 300

SAP 4.7-> LSO 200

Hi Anil

Actually Learning Portal is installed on a existing SAP Enterprise Portal ( EP ). it is downloaded from SAP Market Place in a form of Business Package. The basis people download this business package and then install it on Enterprise Portal with the iview of HCM_LEARNING.

Learning Portal provides a web access to potential participants to select a course from the course Catalog and then register themselves for a course. Plus the BSPs can be added to furnish some custom training requirements. If you dont want to install Learning Portal, you can install LSO FE ( Front end ) which is installed on ECC. but then the users will have to login to ECC and register and maintain the course admin.

As far as the Online Course Playing is concerned, the learners can go through a online course on the web. The Course Player is a JAVA enabled tool from SAP. Moreover, if a user wants he/she can download the course on its offline course player and run the course on its desktop. and the information will be updated/synchronised, once the user logs on to learning Portal.

Please refer to OSS note 600209. Although it is about installation of LSO200 which is for SAP 4.7 but you will get a fair idea.you can read the related notes as well.
