BO ANALYSIS OLAP authorisation how to setup?

Hi experts,

we are on a fresh SAP BO/BW system with our company and busy with setting up authorisation for usage of BW queries in Webi, Design Studio and BO analysis for OLAP. Most of the things are done except for one.

I have configured a user in BW that has access to an infoarea and that can access/use the queries in that area (in RSRT/RRMX/Bex).

However when trying to open such a query from BO Analysis for OLAP the OLAP connection is accessible and it even shows the infoarea nodes on which queries are present. (the OLAP connection is configured for SSO of course)

But when opening a node nothing happens :(.

In SU53 we see a lot of errors, all about RFC function RSOBJS_GET_NODES.

i added these objects to our role but the errors do not disappear.

Can anyone give me a clue how to analyze this problem?

Thanx in advance.

Marco

We installed a patch (2) and a hot fix (1) for the BO Server software and everything works as it should :):):)

This morning we upgraded the QAS systems (and upgraded the security things from 1024 to 2048 bits) and Webi did work in the first attempt.

For BO Analysis and design studio it did not :(:(.
That was an issue/bug we discovered before and is not solved by SAP yet.
If you use an SSO OLAP connection don't forget to set the language to English - US.

Otherwise Design Studio and BO Analysis won't work!!!!!!

Thanks!

This morning i tried to work with a query from Webi Lanuchpad.

Selecting works, but loading the query fails with "Universe generation failed". Something more is not working I am afraid.
We are going to create a ticket with SAP.

Hi Marco,

Web Intelligence and Analysis edition for OLAP both use same type of components to access BW system : BICS, Java Connector, RFC ...

And also they use same OLAP Connection objects stored in CMS, so it's indeeed strange you would get different behavior.

Can you look at traces from Multi Dimensional Analysis Service, which is hosted in an Adaptive Processing Server, if there is an error during execution you should be able to find it there.

Otherwise I would advise creating a ticket with SAP Support, they could then have screen sharing session with you to review your configuration and determine issue you are dealing with.

Best regards,

Loic

And another addition; when searching for a Bex query from within Webi in the BO portal everything works as it should according to me.

Both for a user with limited authorisations in SAP BW as well for a user with SAP_ALL/SAP_NEW.

So I am starting to believe something is wrong in the BO system itself (we are on BO 4.2 SP04).

I now changed the BW authorisations so that SU53 is empty; meaning no auhtorisation problem.

In RSRT and in Webi i am able to select queries on the connection, in BO Analysis OLAP or in the OLAP connection itself no queries can be found. What can be wrong?

One thing to be added:

When I try to 'Connect' the OLAP_CONNECTION itself to a specific query or infoprovider we do have the same problem.
The top infoarea nodes are displayed, opening the nodes doesnt show anything.

Hi,

Did you assign auth object S_RS_AO ?

Thanks,

I have added S_RS_AO to the authorisation today, but it still doesn't work.
