Hello C4C experts,

Interesting Design Question. Our client would like to use C4C Sales Module for Orders generated through Call Centers for their products. Nature of the business is they sale more parts than their final product. The closest analogy is selling a car at first and thereafter selling the pars for the life of car, only thing is they don't service only sale the parts. So, they make more money by selling the parts then selling their finished product.

You probably have guessed by now that they have Bill of Materials which is stored in their ECC system. In addition, the client has several finished products and thus several BoMs. Since the call centre agent takes the part orders is it good to replicate Bill of Materials from ECC to C4C in a custom business object and use it in C4C or create a web service and call a web service to fetch the data from ECC?.

The key architectural constrains here are a) Performance b) easy of use. Call center agents have an average call time of 7 mins per call. So, the system performance is key.

Which design is best suits this need (replication vs. on-demand call). In the interest of transparency, there are a total of 120,000 BoM items exist at this time.
