WebI Error Message - “while trying to invoke the method...

WPS - Idle Connection Timeout = 20 mins

BI Launchpad Session Timeout = 30 mins

Hello all,

Our user based are seeing the following error message for WebI reports:

“while trying to invoke the method com.businessobjects.sdk.core.server.IServer.process(com.businessobjects.sdk.core.server.IServerRequest) of a null object loaded from local variable 'server' (Error:INF)”

Steps to reproduce:

1. Log in to BI Launchpad

2. Open two webI reports (should be two tabs in BI Launchpad)

3. Refresh reports to get new data, if needed

4. WebI report 1 is actively used, like refresh, filters, etc.

5. WebI report 2 is not touched after it is refreshed and is let to sit for 30+ mins. At 35 mins, User will perform an action like going to the last page of the report.

6. Error appeared on WebI report 2, see attachment . webi-error-fig1.jpg wps-config-fig1.jpg

Is there are way to configure the error message, from server side, to be "more intuative" for user to know that that their report have timed-out?

Is there a solution around this error?

Any insight would be much appreciated

I do not think it is possible to change/customize the error message, but you can play with timeouts to avoid this error or educate users that any report left un-used will timeout with weird error ;)
