Hello everybody,
I work in a distributor of pharmaceutical products, for the same product we have several options of articles (by brand) to satisfy an order.
In automatic product selection, we know the selection is made by the priority in substitute materials and stock availability but don’t consider the batch expiration date of all product options (brands)
We need the priority to be for the batch of lower expiration date during the automatic product selection run above all substitutes to favor the delivery of products with short expirations dates and thus minimize having to scrap.
I've never heard of this and just wanted to find out if anybody has done this is SAP. My understanding of his requirement is that we need to deliver the batches with the lowest expiration date of all the options of articles for the same product
For example, for the Acetylsalicylic acid (CBBS 101) we can deliver Aspirin (SKU 4001875), Salospir (SKU 4001862) and Disprin (SKU 4001894) if every SKU has only one batch available but with different expiration dates, we need the system than automatic select de product with the lower expiration date to the specific sales order.
Disprin 50 PZA Batch D8931 Expiration Date 05/17/2019
Aspirin 80 PZA Batch A1823 Expiration Date 11/25/2019
Salospir 70 PZA Batch S9388 Expiration Date 01/22/2019
The system must select Salospir because this material has the lower expiration date even if in the list of alternatives in products substitution priority isn’t the first option.
If there is not enough inventory of this batch to cover a required quantity the system must check for the next alternative with the next lower expiration date until the order quantity is satisfied, or until there is not more possible substitutes.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.
This requirement means basically that you would need to do a batch selection before you even have a material in your order, quite impossible
SAP says in its docu: "Product selection and automatic batch determination do not work together in the sales order"
