In the installation guide "SAP ERP 2005 SR2 ABAP+Java on Linux: IBM DB2 Universal Database for UNIX and Windows ", it said it just valid for SRM server on linux32 platform to install DB2 V8 or V9. Is it right? Based on that, I am not sure whether I can install SAP with DB2 on Linux 32bit platform.
<i>=====copied from guide=======
4.1.1 Installing Version 8 of IBM DB2 Universal Database for UNIX and Windows
Procedure
1. Log on as user root and make sure that the DISPLAY variable is set correctly.
2. Since the database software must be temporarily extracted to disk, create a temporary directory,for example <tmp>.
3. On Linux, proceed as follows depending on the Linux platform that you are using:
Only valid for: SAP SRM Server 5.5
On Linux 32 Bit, insert and mount the RDBMS DVD to <DVD_mount> and enter the following command:
<DVD_mount>/LINUX_32/SAPCAR xvf /<DVD_mount>/LINUX_32/DB2V8_GAFP9_LIN32.SAR
End of: SAP SRM Server 5.5
Only valid for: SAP SRM Server 5.5
On Linux 32 Bit with a 2.6 kernel, insert and mount the RDBMS DVD to <DVD_mount> and enter the following command:
<DVD_mount>/LINUX26_32/SAPCAR xvf /<DVD_mount>/LINUX26_32/DB2V8_GAFP9_LIN32_26.SAR
End of: SAP SRM Server 5.5</i>
Yes - you can.
That section explains, that there are two different versions of DB2, one for a Kernel 2.4 (DB2V8_GAFP9_LIN32.SAR) which is SLES 8 or Redhat 2.1 and for a Kernel 2.6 (SLES 9/10, Redhat 4)
