Changing a transport!

I created a transport for new company codes and realized I made few errors and need to delete them. The errors are not with CoCd settings but some other imp assignments to transports which are required in my company (like tying to release date etc.). But these company codes are already in use by other modules in their configuration. Also, neither mine or any other transports have been released yet (they are modifiable). Will my deletion affect any others configuration? I want to delete the cocds, assign the deletion to the current transport. Create the company codes with same numbers again and assign them to the new transport and delete the old transport. What is your suggestion on this... Please advise!

Thanks

N

Hi,

If this Company Code is used in other module configuration like assigning plants to Company Code etc, you cannot delete the Company Code. You need to first delete the all assignments and then delete the Company codes.

Secondly, I am not clear whether you want to delete the change request and manually create a new request for Company Code.

Thanks

Murali.

Hi,

The transport holds the object for release.

If you want to change the configuration , do the changes and save the stuff under the same request instead of deleting.

By deleting nothing will happen .It releases yr object provide the transport request contains ONLY Your configurations.

(If it is totally a gross mistake you delete the earlier transport and create new.Otherwise it is just like copy command in Computer system.)

Hope it clears yr doubt. Assign the points if this is useful. Thanks,

Thanks for all your responses!

Here is what the exact scenario is.

There are around 15 Company Codes assigned to Dec release. But suddenly we have a requirement where one of them needs to be released in Oct. The problem is as per the policy, tranports were created one per T-Code and not one per company code. Release dates are determined by STS numbers assigned to the transport. Initially I thought of backing out only that company code's config and creating a the company code again and this time assigning to the right STS. But if I do so, the original tranport will still delete the company code when it hits the Production this dec. So do I have to delete everything and redo the whole company code creation (OX15, OX02, OBY6, OB22, OX19 are the main ones in addition to assigning the tolerance group)

Also, in addition to this, Assets and AP modules use these company codes in their config. Will the deletion affect them in anyway though I am going to add back the same company code numbers again. None of the transports have been released yet.

Please advise!

Thanks,

N

Do as you said, put the deletion in the old transport and delete the transport and create a new on with company codes. it should be a problem. But before you delete it make sure that the company codes are the only things in there.the other problem could system may not allow you to delete the company code as they are looked in other config check with other teams and understand the overall impact of it on the project.
