Dear All,
We are going to upgrade from 3.0b to BI 7.0 for FICO and PM.
Can anybody share your experience abt the same upgradation. So that we can be aware of the problem. I am just go throughing some OSS notes.
What is the JAVA stack and ABAP stack. In 3.0B we have ABAP program only. what is the use of JAVA. Is it mandatory to have JAVA in BI??
Help me to know more abt the precaution to take before upgradation.
Thanks in advance.
Esther
There aer other threads that talk about what BI Java provides. While not required, there are many features of BI 7.0 you won't be able to use without, e.g. the Web Application Designer, Formatted Reporting, new features of Information Broadcasting, Portal integration, etc.
Earlier Support Package levels of BI 7.0 did not allow BI Java to be added later, but that has been changed, so you can perfrom a technical upgrade without BI Java and add it later. BI Java does require a good bit of memory. If the money is available for teh hardware upgrades necessary, then I would recommend including BI Java at the beginning. The real reporting/analysis value of BI 7.0 needs BI Java.
