Dear MDM community,

How do we use MDM workflow (visio) if we need to create master data records or change the same.

Kindly let me know the process steps (flow) for the same.

Thanks.

Hi..

Define a Client system

Create an Inbound Port

Start the MDM Import Server Service

System imports data delivered at the inbound port i.e. Ready folder of inbound port for the specified Client system. In a real business environment data would be delivered by SAP XI.

Once the data (in a file) has been delivered to a specific inbound port, it will automatically be picked within a configurable time interval and queued up for import processing.

System transforms, maps, and matches data as defined in the import map.

The MDM Import Server maps and matches imported data to the repository structure.

The outcome of the import processing is updated or new master data records in the repository and log files of the entire load process.

The file present in the Ready folder is subsequently deleted and moved to the Archive folder of the inbound port.

An MS Excel report of a specific import process can be seen in the Log folder. Similarly any exceptions raise during the import process can be seen in the Exceptions folder.

We can also monitor the import processing results using the Log files ( stored in the Port folder Log ) and accessible via MDM Console.

We can then use the MDM Data Manager to review the newly imported master data records and corresponding key mapping.

First you need to have the MDM workflow component installed.

Visio is only needed to design the workflow itself. The different steps in defining a workflow is pretty well described in the MDM Data Manager Guide.

An end-user, maintaining records, doesn't get in touch with Visio.
