query on a function module

Can anyone please explain the use of the function module?

Actually i need to know this function module w.r.t to

image processing in abap.

If you want to download the SAPSCRIPT image from SAP to your DESKTOP, then we use this function module ,

Run SAPFORMPAINTER_DEMO program by keeping a break point in this function module...;-) then you may know what its doing...
