Hi

Our clients use 2004b.2. The BP data now is about 30000 records. Problem is that when using 'tab or *' to look for a BP, the application got frozen and kick-out finally. How can we solve this problem??

Rgds/Thanks

Hi,

Please try create Formatted Search If in 2004 version have query generator, You can minimize the searching, e.g. only CardCode and Cardname, or You you can create selection with BP Group to Minimize.

Hi,

They already known that how to limit the searching criteria ie. 33*, of a, etc. But most users get used to with tab and also for a new user this problem oftenly happens BP is very general in the application, many tasks need BP.

Thanks for your help

Hello Nalintip,

what about limiting the number of displayed results? Under Administration -> System Initialization -> General Settings -> Display tab you have the following option:

"Max Records in Choose from List Rows -> Define the maximum number of rows that will be displayed in any Choose From List window." (see online help). Maybe this will educate your users to limit the search criteria, and if they don't, at least they don't hang up.

Hi Sandra,

Thanks for your help. At least this way could remind them to avoid freezing.

Are you a partner or the end customer? Either way if you're up to date with the maintance fee you can place support messages using the partner and/or customer portal pages at: service.sap.com

If you are a customer I would suggest to contact you're partner and request them to show you how to place support messages (they can also put the message for you).

Dont forget to include details on your server hardware as well as the client hardware and a bit of networking stuff as well.

We've had some speed issues with the Inventory module when we were running a client at 2004A some time back (the client had something like 15 000) stock codes but after moving them up to a few patches and then to 2005A the issues have been resolved.

I find it a great help if you use the Form Setting feature when pressing tab to pull out the BP / Inventory code and use the 'Group' feature. That way the users just pull up the few groups there are and then expand the field to what codes they need. Very helpfull!

Hi

Thanks for your advice, our customer's version is 2004b.2. have you known any patch for this verison?

By the way, can I have the patch number for 2005A? One of our potential prospect got a very huge items like 60000-70000 Vols. on a simple business flow of trading company.

If you're a partner you can get the latest patch for 2004B from the portal.

Note that if you're running 2004 B its because your country only supports the B version and i do not think you're able to swap to the A version. Do check with your SAP contact there

Hi Nalintip,

don't worry about the amount of your item master data. We currently have approximately 150.000 items in one of our databases on 2005A SP01 PL18 and it works. (In the same DB we have app 18.000 entries in OCRD and 200 named users, usually 80 concurrent working with the system the same time...) Yet we have a quite fat DB server and several good terminal servers (in a citrix environment), but it is possible.

Hi Sandra,

Thanks a lot for the information. I also heard that 2007A is much better in performance!!

Hello,

if you are using SBO 2004b.2, I think you should upgrade to 2005B or 2007B version since maintenance period has been over, although it is still available in the SAP license request website but better to upgrade.

The version 2007B is being still in the ramp up process. So, I think your problem will be better solved in 2005B and then upgrade in 2007B.

One way would be to filter the BPs using appropriate options selected in the other

fields i.e. customer type (customer, vendor or lead), customer group etc in combination with some of the initial letters from the Bp's Name put in the field 'Name' followed by *. In this way a subset of the BP master will be enlisted which satisfies all the above criterias. This way you can narrow down your search which may produce results a bit earlier.

You should open a support call with SAP. 30,000 BP seems to be a very excessive amount of records.

Hi WB

How can I open a support call, and what is the service from that. Due to it's just the second year of using SAP B1 for this customer and data would be more and more.!!

Rgds/Thanks
