Hi there,
I just started a new job for a small company which has a VERY messy BW install. The landscape has 2 boxes BWD and BWP both of which are connected to R/3 production. It seems that my predecessor was a bit lazy with his transports and as such most users (if not all) are using BWD exclusively. Data and structures are inconsistent in BWP and as such it's almost un-used. This presents some issues as I'm sure you're aware. There's effectively no Development or QA box for me to use.
As of now I have a very limited understanding of the differences between the 2 systems but over the next week or so I'd like to get BWD and BWP in synch.
I guess I can propose that BWD be copied to BWP completely. However this would mean that some active business content from BWD would be sent to BWP even though its not needed or fully configured. Correct?
The better way would be to collect and transport all of the active content in BWD and send only that to BWP. I assume that there are open transports in BWD but I think it may be safer to just delete the transports and start fresh with clean ones. Correct?
In all of my other projects collection and transport creation and importation were done by other teams and so I have basically ZERO knowledge of how it's done.
Can someone send me some tips for this large endeavour?
