Raiser's Edge Integration

I am hoping someone can help. I am working the SAP Crystal Reports and Raiser's Edge. I have gone to Blackbaud for support with Raiser's Edge and they recommended that I contact Crystal support. I have a report built in Crystal that I am trying to link to a custom report in Raiser's Edge. Every time I link it in Raiser's Edge, it crashes my software. We have even tried creating a new Crystal report and a new custom report in Raiser's Edge, and it does the same thing. Both software's are up to date.

The Raiser's Edge is crashing when I try to link the Crystal Report. We are given a parameter file in Raiser's Edge in which we can link the Crystal Report.

The process for Crystal and Raiser's Edge (RE) is as follows:

Create a MDB file for export of data from RE. Export the data and connect the database in Crystal. Build the Crystal report and Save it. Then attach it to the parameter file.

A slight history on the main Crystal Report issue: We have a report that I update on a yearly basis to reflect the appropriate year in the header in Crystal and update the giving criteria in the export from Raiser's Edge.

This year, when updating it, I had to change the header and add one field. Now I know that, according to a window that pops up in my export, I can't remove any output fields. But can I add them to an already built Crystal report? That may be an aside.

Once I updated the Crystal report, I saved it as a new Crystal file, per a prompt from Crystal. Then, I went into RE to put the new Crystal report into the parameter file. As of now, when I get to the second step where I need to Select a Crystal Report I can search for the updated Crystal report, but when I try to save it in Raiser's Edge or Preview it, it crashes my system with no error message.

I also understand why it would seem this is a Raiser's Edge/Blackbaud problem. However, they seem to believe we have exhausted our resources with them and have recommended that I now seek help from Crystal Support. This forum is how I was directed to receive support.

Here is the problem :

Based on what you described, the Raiser software is not accepting the new CR file you have created and crashes.
Logically, how could this possibly be an issue with crystal ?
All crystal workflows work. You're able to modify report, save it. (you do have a very old version of crystal, but that's all)
The problem only starts when this raiser software is trying to use this new report -- so, maybe this software doesn't like the changes in report. In any case - vendor for this software needs to tell us why their software does not like the new cr report.
I do not see how would we even begin to look at it from CR side.


I will send your response back to them and hopefully they will escalate the issue. I was just doing my

due diligence. Thank you for your time.

Which software is crashing ?
If you can provide a bit more details on how and what exactly is being linked, what is crashing exactly and how - maybe we can provide more suggestions.
As is - it sounds the issue is with this Raiser's edge software.
