A change document has of course as well a document number which makes it unique in the table, since the same document could be changed several times

which document got changed can be seen from the object value

char 1-3 = Client

char 4-7 = Company code

char 8-17 = document number

char 18-21 = year

Just out of curiosity, where would i find documentation for something like that ?

I am not aware of any specific docu.

How the key for an object is formed is pretty much object depending and can be seen in the program, it is often not different from the key fields of the main table. E.g. for a finance document is the main table BKPF, just go to SE11 and check the key fields: MANDT BUKRS BELNR GJAHR, exact the same as your object value, even in the same sequence.

But honestly a functional consultant should know the few numbers of his working area, the numbers that you see all day long everyday in a year, like the client, the company code, the year, and the first number of a number interval of a certain document type, business partner or material

where others just see number salad 011000100126341891998 an attentive consultant will see patterns

Point taken.

But i guess, with no specific documentation AKA book that would give a better idea to shed some light,
the functional will learn as he goes.
