Another important point which you should not miss is for the IView whcih you are attaching to the role to display set the parameter Entry Point as Yes. otherwise even after you attach the ivew to the role you will be still struggling with it and your ivew will never be dispalyed on the screen ....

Is ur query resolved??R u able to add iview to role.
U ll find two options Add iview to role-->copy or delta link
Copy is used when u tht iview ti be independent so tht changes done at parent level will not effect tht.Delta link is like hierarchichal, the properties r transfered to the iview if changes are made.

Open the Role Object from Content Administrator -> Portal Content.
Right click on your iView -> Add iView to Role Delta Link
