Hi,

TOR transfers the requirement so that the material is available at the right time.

AVAILABILITY CHECK makes sure that the material is available to fulfill the requirement.

Suppose you have stock of 10 pieces. Customer orders for 15 pieces. Now when the sales order is saved, the system transfers the requirement for 15 pieces. Availability check is carried out to check for the availability of the material. Because 10 are in stock, 10 pieces are alloted to that sales order and the production will be carried out only for 5 pieces.

Reward points if solution helps.

Hi Krishna,

It's a cyclic process.

Below is the explanation:

Transfer of requirements will make sure that the goods are available at the right time so that they can be supplied to the customer.

System will do the availability check based on those available stock which is present in your plant as a result of TOR.

For e.g. you have a stock of 100 after your successfully completed transfer of requirements and then you have suddenly customer order of 150 then the availability check will take place and the requirements will again pass on to procurement and the production department.

Passing on the requirement to procurement and production means transfer of requirements. Goods availabilty will be done based on the available stock.

Reward points if it helps.

Transfer of Requirement (TOR)

At the time of a sales order a line item in the sales order creates schedule line. The schedule line represents the customer’s intended delivery date and quantity to be delivered. This information is transferred as TOR to MRP. MRP is then able to determine if there is enough quantity of stock available for schedule delivery date.

TOR is basically dependent upon the following factors

1. Requirement Type

2. Requirement Class

3. Check Group

4. Schedule Line category

First it will check for the availability of the material and then TOR is done.
