Error Due to Upgrade - Query Designer and Report Designer

Hi,

We are testing the Upgraded System for Upgrade from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0.

We have errors in Executing Queries on the Query Designer as well as Report Designer.

The Query does not execute in the Query Designer. It Opens an IE page and says "Service cannot be reached”.

The Report Designer Gives an Error “Server could not find Metadata”. The client System is not Unicode, Switching on the Unicode Indicator would not help.

If you have any suggestions on resolution of these errors; Please do write back. Would appreciate your response.

Hi Shweta,

These errors are commonly related to communication errors towards the Java Stack (BI Portal). The Abap & Java stack communicate with eachother on various levels (RFC, Jco and so on). Please read Note 937697 - Usage of SAP NetWeaver BI Diagnostics & Support Desk Tool, implement it and run the diagnostics. From there you can configure the connections step by step. This is the only way to get these kind of troubles solved.
