date in smartforms

well.....can you please help me how can i do that..

when i print normal date format which is in the field on the text element i can see the date...(29.07.2007)

the same thing when iam writing on programming lines and trying to change the format(29 july 2007) iam getting exceptions..

<the date is not initialized>

plz plz plz help me
