using derivation tables in derivation?

Hi,

in our BW project we extract data of accounting based CO-PA. Now we need to map various cost elements to the different key figures for reporting - e.g. all sales revenues cost elements to one key figure "revenues" and so on...

Using formulas would be a huge implentation effort. This is why we think about using a separate derivation table.

Does anyone have experience using derivation tables in transformations?

We also thought about using hierarchy nodes. Does anyone know how to map the values of the single cost elements to the hierarchy nodes?

Thanks for help!

Hi Sandra,

in the APD functionality (TR: RSANWB) is a standard step for mapping many keyfigures to one keyfigure + one characteristic. Making a wide table narrow, but longer.

If you want to use a derivation table (which is possible - use an ODS to hold the derivation records, next use an ABAP to check the table of this ODS) then you must be able to generate an output table. This is possible in BW 3.5 and in the latest support pack releases for 2004s. If you have 2004s and you are not on the latest support pack then this functionality may not be available in your system.

(I believe you need support pack 12).
