Hi Gurus,

For the first time i am trying to download patch for SM 4.0 We currently have sorce stack as 06(08/2006) know i want to download 08(10/2006). In the first step i have choosen Source Stack and Target Stack respectively.

In the step 2 choose configuration I have the option to choose the following 1.WINDOWS SERVER ON IA32 32 bit.

2.WINDOWS SERVER ON IA64 64 bit.

in SAP IGS 7.00 for SAP SM

and other option is

WINDOWS SERVER ON IA32 32 bit in SAP KERNEL 7.00 32bit for SAP SM

What should i choose here as i have Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition with X86 on 32bit.

Hello Parvez,

You should go for WINDOWS SERVER ON IA32 32 bit since you are using MS Win Server 2003 but check your kernell version also,if you are using SAP KERNEL 7.00 then go for

WINDOWS SERVER ON IA32 32 bit in SAP KERNEL 7.00 32bit for SAP SM.

Thanks for the update,one more thing I would like to know is that in the option.SAP KERNEL 7.00 32bit for SAP SM in brackets it is mentioned (From SP058 To SP075 or higher (Recommendation: SP075)). Is this the value of Sup pkg level shown in System->Status->Other Kernel Info.

If it is the same in our system the value is 52.

Can we proceed with the same or else what need to be checked.

Hi,

Download the 32 bit SAP Kernel 7.0 for Windows. Kernel level 58 is part of SP stack 06 and level 75 is part of Sp stack 8 . If you are seeing 52 as kernel level then you you didnt update the kernel in the right way when you did the support stack 6 . Please check all the compnents against SP 06 stack and make sure that everything is good before applying Stack 08

Thanks for the update. This is the first time i am trying to apply patch. I have checked all components and Support Package of SP stack 06 and is matching with what I have in my systems Imported support packages.

Since the kernel pkg level is 52 as aginst required 58 what can be done at this stage.Should we proceed with SP 08

Hi Khan,

As of Solution Manager 4.0 deafult kernel is 7.00 so you have to go for WINDOWS SERVER ON IA32 32 bit since you are using MS Win Server 2003.

If you want to know wether you have got 32 bit or 64 bit you can check from sap i.e SYSTEM>STATUS>HOST DATA-->MACHINE TYPE .
