Communication Channel IDOC tipy and SENDER

Former Member

Hi experts!

We have an XI SP14.

I have read that it is not needed a communication channel to send Idocs from R/3 to XI but, if we try to set this communication channel, we are not able to select the "Sender" option in the comm. channel. We have never used this kind of comm. channel to send Idocs from R/3 to XI so, I wonder why we are having this problem.

Do you know if this is a problem with the XI version or is it customizable?

If it is customizable, do you know where is this set up?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Experts!

First of all, thanks for your replies. I will award points.

Yeah, I know that it is not needed to set up a CC to send Idocs from R/3 to XI, in fact we don't use this CC, we make this connection as you have explained, however, I wonder why if i create this kind of CC, I am not able to select the sender option, it seems to be disabled.

I guess that this should be customizable and that is my question, where can this be set up? Is there any XI parameter that controls this?

I have tested it in a XI SP19 and in that XI box we are able to select the "Sender" option that is why I asked if it is disabled in SP14.

Thanks again!

Hi,

In my opinion sap is trying to have the same configuration for all communication channels. Maybe in the future (PI 7.1) everything will be configured only in integration directory. We will see.

best,

The configuration data for all the adapter can be found in IR under

SAP Basis 6.40 - >http://sap.com/xi/XI/System - > adapter objects -> adapter metadata.

Select idoc and you can see the configuration for inbound idoc adapter but there is no outbound configuration provided by SAP. you can check for reference the RFC adapter for both inbound/outbound configuration. If you want to configure a sender idoc adapter then you will have to create all the necessary configuration in line with what is needed for an sender idoc and then upload this metadata. Its not going to be as simple as enabling the sender button you will have to create all the remaining input fields for sender idoc channel.

Hi all.

Regarding this same issue.

I have checked what Dreamcatcher told me and i have found out the following:

- In IDoc Adapter configuration we only have information under the Outbound row.

The Inbound row appears empty, it can not be openned

- In a SP 19, we have that there are some information in boths row, Outbound and Inbound.

Could this be the root cause of my problem? Any idea why there is not anything under Inbound?

Thanks in advance!

The parameters that are displayed under the outbound row represent the parameter's which the idoc sender adapter will need as input to process the msg correctly but at the same time the adapter will also have the functionality (necessary code) to handle the inputs received from these parameters.

In SP 19 both the sender adapter user interface as well as the backend adapter code will be enabled to handle sender idoc communication channels.

In you SP just adding these parameters MIGHT not do the job as the back end idoc adapter code may not be able to process this input.

you might have to build you own sender idoc adapter in the end.

BINGO Dreamcatcher, I think this is exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks again.

There is nothing wrong with your XI version. You dont need a sender idoc communication channel to send data to XI. you have to create a RFC destination from your R/3 to XI and this tRFC connection is used to send data to XI by the your r/3 serve.

if you want to check how to trigger idocs to xi then see this blog

If you are trying to post the IDOC from r/3 to XI, you don't have to define the SA and Sender CC, becasue the IDOC sits on the ABAP Stack.

As idocs usess the trfcs port, in r/3 it self you are mentioning the receiver (XI) Details in the partner Profile.

But you should get the Sender option in the IDOC sender CC when you are trying to create it.

Hi,

The IDoc adapter directly sits on the Integeration Server.

When a IDoc is triggered it automatically reaches the XI with the configuration done in SM59, WE20 and WE21.

So there is no need of sender CC for IDoc.

Note that you dont need to have a sender CC for sending Idocs into XI.

Just follow the steps as mentioned here to send and IDoc into XI - https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/SAPR3%28Idocs%29ToXI--Steps+Summarized

you don't need a sender idoc cc. The same is with sender agreement.

There is an automatic sender determination based on sld configuration and port IDX1.

In newest versions like sp19 you can select sender IDOC cc and use business services with sender determination
