Hi,

i would like to ask where do you use the stocks in MD04? Can it be used for Purchase Requisition and Purchase Order? or where?

Hi ellen,

The stocks available here is actually unrestricted stock. In case of extenal procurement material the purchase order or requisition is created only if there is any deficit of stock available in unrestricted use stock.

thanks for that. can i just confirm my understanding, I can create PR if there is any deficit stock....

how about if the qty reflect is 2199 in MD04 and 2162 in the PR ? Can you give me a Clear explanation for this?

When would table RESB populated? would this be because of Purchase Requisition transaction. ME53N?

Ellen,

Creating of PR is not block by the stock availability and PR is just a planning Item.

If a user needs some material they can create a reservation or PR based on the design of the SAP system in their client. If user creates a reservation based on the stock and MRP parameters defined in the MRP views system creates a PR if required.

RESB table gets populated only if reservation exists for that material. If the PR/PO is subcontract releated then system creates subcontract requirement/reservation for the components, in that case RESB table is populated.

Hi Ellen,

The stock which shows in MD04 is the plant stock.

This is the stock you can see in MMBE.

When you run mrp for this material system will consider this stock if you have maintained availability check accordingly .

If you are doing GR for a finished good say 10 nos , you can see in MD04 the stock will increase for FG by 10 Nos.

The stocks in MD04 is unrestricted and not related to any procurement proposals.

like PRs.

In MD04 you will find Unrestricted Use stock of MMBE.You can use it for any purpose.
