User Defined Function: Changing the description does not work

Hi,

in a message mapping I have a user defined function (UDF). Now I want to change the description of the user defined function. Therefore I edit the UDF and enter a new description.

Once I save the message mapping in which the UDF is contained, the changed description will be overwritten by the original one that has been entered when the UDF was created initially.

Changing the <i>label</i> of the UDF works fine but changing the <i>description</i> seems not to be possible...

Has anyone a solution for this?

I have observered this in XI 3.0 and 7.0 with different SP's. Currently I am working with 7.0 SP11.

If the label is possible then it should work with description also. Sometimes we wont concentrate on small things. Please save ur UDF after u change the description and then save the MM. Then activate it.

As Prashanthi said,

after you enter the description, click on 'Save and Close'. Description is saved. I tried and it worked for me on XI 3.0 SP17.

Hi all,

thanks for all your answers.

It works for me as long as I did not save the message mapping. Once the message mapping is saved, it is not possible to change the description of an already existing UDF afterwards.

Try the following:

1.) Create an UDF in a message mapping and enter any description. Save & Close the UDF.

2.) Save the message mapping

3.) Change the description of the UDF and Save&Close the UDF

4.) Save the message mapping again.

5.) Check the description of the UDF (it will be the description of the first step.)

For me it seems to be a bug.

Please activate the changes and reply if you still face issues. B'coz on saving the desc is not changing. Only its changed once u activated the changelist.

Its work for me as per ur steps. But in your step Activate changes is missing.

also activation of the changes after step 2 and/or step 5 does not change the situation.

I really don't know. Please do one more thing, try to create new UDF and try to simulate the same steps as u described.

I tried it with a new UDF and performed the same steps as described above. After step 2 and 4 I activated the changes. Same result. Really strange...

yes it shows old description after activting after step5 but it shows changed description once you save the UDF but it goes off when you save the mapping and activate it

I think you need to activate the message mapping after you make the change and then you should be able to see the description.

Not sure coz I dont remember having tried this though.

Just now I tried, just activate the changes as suggested by Bhavesh. Its working for me too.
