Split Valuation

Hi,

Based on documentation regarding Split Valuation, we could differentiate the costs of a material based several categories. For example, we could have different cost for in-house and externally procured materials. My questions:

1. What is the price control for a material with split valuation assuming that I want to differentiate between in-house and externally procured?

2. If I use split valuation for raw material component, how does product cost controlling know which value type to choose when I cost the higher level material (using cost estimate with quantity structure)

3. We have Material Ledger/Actual Costing activated, does anyone know if split valuation works with ML/AC?

Thanks for your reply.

Hello Teck,

1. What is the price control for a material with split valuation assuming that I want to differentiate between in-house and externally procured?

Incase of split valuation, you will have always price control indicator as V (moving price) at higher level, but you can have S (std) or V (VAP) at valuation type level. it is also possible that for one valuation type you can have S )Std) and for another one you can have V (MAP) price control

2. If I use split valuation for raw material component, how does product cost controlling know which value type to choose when I cost the higher level material (using cost estimate with quantity structure)

Once you activate the split valuation, it becomes mandatory to mention the valuation type when you do any inventory transaction. so based on this valuation type it will determine the cost.

3. We have Material Ledger/Actual Costing activated, does anyone know if split valuation works with ML/AC?

Yes it will work.
