Two physically separate CPUs for Linux vs. one dual-core CPU

In the document "Installation.Guide.SAP.NetWeaver.SR1.pdf", under "3.2.2 Hardware requirements for Linux" (PDF page 38 of 108), a mention is made to the fact that "Your installation host must have at least two CPUs" - does that mean 2 physically separate CPUs have to exist, or does a dual-core CPU do the job here?
