transport requests

Suppose if we have a Dev, Qua & Prod servers & with in Dev if we have three clients Sandbox, Golden client & Initial testing. Now If we have to transport the data from one client(say from golden client to Initial testing) to another client with in the same server How do we do that.

If we have to transport from one server to another (Say Dev to Qua) how do we do that.

Please explain me the steps in involved in both the cases.

Thanks,

Venkat

within a server to tansfer data between the clients you can transfer it by ALE/IDOC's ...

and between dev and qua data can be trasfered using requests ( but this can be only customising data as master data cannot be transported through requests ) . once u change any data in customising as u know a request is created then u goto se10 and release ur request once u do that basis guy will transfer it.

Within aclient .. yoou can transfer config from the golden clent using TCODE SCC1.

Across different client, check with your basis team..depends on company to company...Usually you release the subtask & parent task & tell basis , they will move it ... in my company i have to only release subtask

Use SCC1 for different clients within same server.

Use STMS for different clients in different server.

    also pl check this :

    transport" target="_blank">http://www.sap-img.com/basis/transport-request-within-same-server-different-clients.htm">transport requests

    Hi Venkat,

Procedure to Release & Transport Request:

    1. In development server, go to T.Code: SE10 & select the check box Modifiable & enter

    2. In the next screen, you will see list of transport request created.

Note: Transport request consist of main request along with sub request. These sub request hold the object to be transported.

    3. Expand the main request & you will be able to view the sub requests attached to main request.

    4. First release the sub requests.

Note: To release the request, select the request ni & click on release request individually (Do not select release all request)

    5. Next release main request.

    6. Once the request is released sucessfully, imform the basis person to import the request to QA server.

    or

If the authority is with you, through T.Code: STMS, select development server --> select request no & release to QA server. Here when it pops up client no, user id & password, maintain it of QA server & release the request to QA server.

If the change needs to be moved to a different client of the same server, we can release only the task in the source client and do a client copy using the request number in the target client in the tcode SCC1.

    Reward points Pls.

    Regards,

    Govind.

Use SCC1 for different clients within same server.

Use SE10 for different clients in different server.

And use STMS if you have transport request in bulk quantity.

    In detail

Suppose you have 3 clients under one Server (dev 130,140,150).

Then you want to send one transport request then better go and use SCC1 transaction code. However, if you have transport requests around 500 or more than that in any client to be transferred then better to use STMS.

To work with STMS, go to the transaction code STMS

    Click on the "import overview"

Double click on your target system

    Click "refresh"

Click on "import all request" or ctrl+F9

    Specify the target client

    Execute the transport

    Done...

Tell if something is not clear and if you want to know more as it’s a very big topic and I don’t know how much you are familiar with it.
