Hello all,
I have to include in BOMs components such in this way:
- base unit of measure: pieces
- quantity in BOM: 0,20 piece x 1 finished product quantity
this means 1 piece of the component will be "consumed" every 5 pieces of finished product.
The goal is to plan the component in pieces but to consume it in decimals. Rounding should be done only at planning level.
The problem is that "pieces" does not allow decimals. I've tried to put decimal pieces in BOM but the system roundes them.
Even if I create a new UM similar to pieces with decimals (PZZ), since it is not the base unit of measure, the system does not consider requirements in this second UM but in base one. (I've maintained Material Master for component, MRP views and Scheduling with the new UM).
Any tip?

Hi Emanuela
Go to t-code CUNI and allow decimal places for pieces in the detailed screen . u can say till how many u want to allow decimals sys allows u up to 14dec.

Hi Sushas,
you mean to change base unit of measure in Material Master?
This is the last solution I considered, because it means I should perform several "heavy" activities in the system, like put stock at 0, close all documents for the involved materials (the system is already "on"), erase them and re-create them with the new base unit of measure..
before going in this direction, I prefer to check if there are other ways..

Dear Nue,
Maintain the Bom Base quantity as 5 in the Bom header. In the child component details maintain as 1 piece. Thereby, the system understands that for every piece of the child component, 5 pieces of header material can be produced.
Hope this answers ur query.

Dear Nue,
In that case you can activate decimal places for the UoM pieces in config using TC CUNI.
But ideally pieces should not be in decimals. It is not exactly quantitative like 10cms or .5 mts. Meaning a 0.5 peice can be anything or 0.7 piece can be any dimension. This is just my 2 cents of thought. See whether u can convince him or else u have the solution
