Hi,

I am trying to config a connection to our mail server SCOT port 25 and I am getting 'An invalid server was used (Active Portal)' Can someone please explain this to me.

Do I have to make a connection under 'Data Servers'? If so what kind?

Thanks

Mike

How are you trying to connect to your mail server? Are you using the SendMail action block in Business Logic? Is SCOT an SMTP mail server?

Perhaps the error "An invalid server was used (Active Portal)" is a remnant of something else. Is Active Portal an active connection? Should it be?

Ryan,

We are trying to use our corporate email servers which are just exchange servers and using the smtp function. I do not understand the "SendMail" actions, doesn't xmii use a standard smtp call or do you have to setup something else to make the connection. We have no other remanant as it's a new install other then our R/3 which is setup to use the Exchange servers (setup with command SCOT).

From the xMII Menu, go to Data Services and Data Servers. Make sure the Data Server called "Active Portal" is disabled (enabled checkbox not checked).

For xMII to send email, you must use the SendMail action block in Business Logic Editor.

We don't have an Active Portal data server. Looks like we have to create a SQL database first to dump the metrics in. Connect to it and then set up the smtp. Not quite sure but I will give it a try.

The mail server config settings are stored in the database - that's the reason you need to set up the SQL tables (and the data server) first...
