BPS-Totaling logic for Top down planning

Hi Friends,

In BPS workbench, we create a planning layout for top down planning and the setting as follow:

Layout category: Select Key Figs in Data Column

Hierarchy in lead column: BPS characteristic hierarchies (Chart of accounts)

Totaling logic: Top-down

The layout is look like this:

Calender year 2007

Operating expenses 900

Personnel cost 200

Selling & distribution costs 500

Office expenses 200

If we enter figure for the parent Operating expenses 900.00 and then enter figure for the leaf members such as personnel costs, selling & distribution costs, marketing costs. The totaling logic should only check for valid if the aggregration of leaf members is match with the parent, meanings that if personnel costs, selling & distribution costs and marketing costs total is 800 which is not tie to the Operating expenses 900, system will not allow plan data to be saved.

Therefore, just want to ask whether this totaling logic function for manually entry data is provided in BI-Integrated Planning.

If you use hierarchy model in layout, the difference between higher level and leaf values will be stored in "#" of immediate your case, if operating expense is entered as 900 and you underlying costs as 800, then the value of 100 will be stored in Operating Expense/# => 100

If you want to stop planning if there is a value in "#", You have to validate the key figures and raise error message in layout. There is a How-To Paper for validating KF in BPS Layout.

    Hi friend,

    Thanks for your info.

Can I know whether BI-IP have to apply the same method of 'how to validating key figure in manual planning' ?
