Material classification - find all materials

I have a material number which has certain classification and characteristics, e.g. Product Group = X, Type Code = Y, Product Quality = Z. These I can find with FM VC_I_GET_CONFIGURATION.

Now I need to find all materials which have the same characteristics. How can I do that?

I not really certain what you are really looking for, I mean basically the function, after the function is known then it might be easier to look for a BAPI or FM.

Usually one is searching for materials by classification where it is important to know the class, this is for example done with transaction CL30N, but it is also included in the search help of material number field.

From your description it sounds like you do not even know the class which has these characteristics. Which means you would need to search for classes based on the known characteristics first before you can then use the class to search for the materials which have the class assigned.

There is another search help for material numbers, which is called "materials by several classes", which is program RWWKLASS

And there is a where-used list for characteristics which can be found in CT04 transaction from the Environment menu

Try any of these options and let us know which one would have the result that you want with a BAPI.

I hope you know the transaction BAPI, here you can search for BAPIs either in a alphabetical order or in a application hierarchy

Classification BAPIs can be found in the Hierarchical tab under Cross-Application Components > Classification

thanks for your answer, I would like to use a BAPI or FM if possible but I cannot find any for that purpose. Any ideas?
